“A new technology to monitor the fetus”

The Anne Klibanski Visiting Lecture Series was created to support and advance the careers of women. These lectures offer the opportunity for women faculty from outside institutions that have hosted Anne Klibanski Scholars to present on their expertise, either alone or in tandem with an Anne Klibanski Scholar.

Presenter: Fiona Brownfoot, MBBS, FRANZCOG, PhD, Associate Professor of OB/GYN, University of Melbourne, Australia

Dr. Brownfoot is an obstetrician scientist, Associate Professor, and head of the Obstetric Diagnostics and Therapeutics Group at the University of Melbourne. She heads a multidisciplinary team of physicists, chemists, and engineers. She is recognized internationally for discovering the first potential treatment for preeclampsia, metformin. Additionally, she is known for developing novel devices to better monitor the fetus, including a fetal ECG and a pH sensor for potential use in labor.
