Feeling burned out? This webinar will help you to find a path to well-being by discussing the system factors that drive burnout in healthcare. It will also identify factors in your life that are in your control as well as create a specific action plan for an area of your life that you want to change. Dr. Shannon will review practices and strategies that you can use daily to mitigate stress and change your daily life experience.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Develop strategies for professional and personal growth to feel less burnout.
• Identify and manage personal areas of improvement in your life that are in your control.
• Create an action plan for an area of your life that you want to change.

PresenterDiane W. Shannon, MD, MPH, after experiencing burnout as a primary care physician, Dr. Diane Shannon made the difficult decision to leave practice. As a professional health care writer for the past 20 years, Dr. Shannon has focused on highlighting issues in the US health care system, including lack of reliability, gaps in communication, and clinician burnout. She is co-author of Preventing Physician Burnout: Curing the Chaos and Returning Joy to the Practice of Medicine, which was published in 2016.

Dr. Shannon is a leading expert in helping clinicians identify the places where they have agency and make changes to improve their professional and personal lives. Dr. Shannon has especially focused on helping women physicians address burnout, overwhelm, and self-doubt. She continues to advocate for health system change through her writing and speaking engagements.

Dr. Shannon attended Williams College, Jefferson Medical College, and Harvard University. She completed training in Internal Medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston and practiced general internal medicine prior to making the shift to writing and coaching.
